Is It Worth Buying an 8K Television? Pros and Cons!

Ana sayfa / News

As technology continues to advance in every field, televisions have also joined this race. Initially, we were quite impressed by screens with 2K resolution, which were later replaced by 4K screens. Just when we hadn’t fully adapted to the 4K experience, 8K televisions were introduced. So, is it worth buying an 8K television? Will you be able to get enough performance? Here are the advantages and disadvantages of 8K televisions…

Although technology giants like Samsung have been promoting 8K televisions for some time, the only question on users’ minds is, “Is there enough content for 8K?” Currently, games, movies, and videos are generally offered in 4K resolution, and there is not enough content available for 8K yet.

While there are some advantages to 8K resolution televisions, there are also many disadvantages. Recently introduced, the PlayStation 5 Pro offers 8K support with Gran Turismo 7, but it’s uncertain whether this support will continue in the future.

Big outage on PlayStation: All PSN servers offline!

Sony's PlayStation Network (PSN) is experiencing a major outage for players using 5th and 4th generation PlayStation consoles.

Among the disadvantages of 8K resolution televisions, the lack of support from streaming platforms for 8K can be highlighted as a significant issue. Additionally, since 8K support is still not available in many areas, purchasing an 8K TV now could be risky. By the time it becomes a trend, your device may become outdated, and you might want to upgrade. Aside from the PS5 Pro, no other gaming console currently offers this support.

Moreover, 8K TV prices are significantly higher compared to 4K, and 8K screens consume more energy than 4K screens. For these reasons, opting for a 4K television instead of an 8K model may be more reasonable. If you enjoy gaming, watching movies, or spending time on TV, 8K doesn’t seem necessary at least for now. You can achieve adequate performance by purchasing a 4K device.
